Shop while you can. A new store, open three days a month, debuts today in a long-vacant retail space.
Christy Petersen will open Seasoned Style at 824 W. 10th St., filling the ground floor space that was home to Willow Tree Boutique and, more recently, a tattoo shop several years ago.
“Every month is a unique shopping experience,” said Petersen, who has a background in education and child care and is a partner in a similar shop in Dell Rapids.
“There are many shops around the country that offer this kind of service. They are usually collected by hand and made by hand.”
Seasonal style is no different, with a variety of fall-themed products lined up in multiple rooms on the ground floor this month. The upper floor is rented by a tenant.
Other than a few exhibits, “almost everything is for sale,” she said.
“I'm focusing on my brand colors green (this month), golds and neutrals, and really all the colors of fall.”
About 90 percent of the products are vintage or upcycled, and Petersen hand-pouses the soy candles herself.
“It's all things I find at thrift stores. I don't do much wholesale, so I try to find handmade items whenever possible,” she said.
All sales are final.
Hours of operation are the third week of each month, Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
