NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) – A WeGo bus driver was threatened with a knife and suffered multiple cuts to his hand while defending himself Monday around 12:15 p.m., according to Metro Police.
The bus driver was completely stopped when the incident occurred – at the Broadmoor Drive/Gallatin Pike stop. The suspect got into the car and was talking loudly until the driver asked him to sit down and be quiet. That's when the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened to kill the bus driver.
Police said the suspect fled on foot but was taken into custody near Briley Parkway. She is expected to be charged with attempted murder;
We asked WeGo for a statement and received the following:
We are deeply saddened by today's events. We want to keep everyone safe on public transportation and are assisting MNPD with their investigation. Members of WeGo's safety and security team are at the hospital with the operator, who is reported to be in stable condition with no life-threatening injuries.
