A new shop specializing in reclaimed furniture and home decor will open along Rural Street on Tuesday.
White Trunk (1706 Rural St.) is owned by Tracy Grisanzio. Ms. Grisanzio lives in Rockford and also works as a nurse.
She has been restoring furniture for several years and was thinking of opening a shop. So a few years ago, she started working on her plans in earnest, deciding to move into a building owned by her father, Richard Warner, on the corner of Rural, Prospect Street and Guilford Road.
The building also houses Warner Roofing and Yackle Tees & Custom Apparel, owned by her brothers Scott Warner and Jason Warner, respectively.
Grisanzio said he is excited to move to the neighborhood and introduce his pastime to more people.
“As soon as we opened, we had so many people stop by and take a look,” Grisanzio said. “This is a hobby I do when I can, and it's something that makes me happy.”
The store has furniture and home decor items of all sizes. We also sell cards, photos, and other items created by local artists.
White Trunk also sells Annie Sloan chalk paint. Grisanzio plans to hold several painting classes later this year.
Store hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are several parking spaces in front of the store and parking is available in the Rural Oaks Retail Center parking lot behind the building.
