A TikTok user is making waves with a shocking discovery about Paris Hilton's kitchen collection: a 10-piece knife set with a heart-shaped knife block, with an MSRP of $69.99, gold blades with heart cutouts, and pink glittery handles.
But despite the kitchen set's glamour, TikTok user Kathleen (@kathleen.kathleen) noticed something off about the collection in a video that had 2.6 million views as of Sunday.
“I was at Walmart looking at the Paris Hilton collection and everything was pink. My house isn't pink, my kitchen isn't pink, but I wanted a little accent,” she began. “I saw this knife with little hearts on it and I thought it was really cute.”
But after cleaning the knife, Catherine noticed that the pink, jewel-like handle had become “sticky and dirty”.
“I don't know if it's resin or acrylic or what,” she added, giving the knife a better look at the user, “but soap and warm water shouldn't do this.”

Is Paris Hilton's knife made of plastic?
Many viewers raised the alarm about Katherine's sticky knife handle. “Don't touch it with your bare hands!!!!!” one viewer warned. “It's unhardened plastic.”
“I can't believe the resin has hardened,” a second commenter chimed in, to which Kathleen replied, “Yeah, I bet it's something lovely and toxic.”
On Walmart's website, the knife's handle is described as “ergonomic,” meaning it's made from a thermoplastic elastomer, a type of rubber-plastic hybrid. Numerous reviews on the Walmart site also point out that the knife appears to have a plastic coating.
Meanwhile, other eagle-eyed commenters noticed that the video showed what appeared to be Dawn Powerwash, a dishwashing detergent spray that contains alcohol. Some commenters argued that the alcohol could “ruin the coating” of such knives, because plastic reacts with certain types of alcohol.
“The pressure washer eats away at the coating because it's not just dish soap like regular liquid down,” one commenter wrote, to which Kathleen responded, “I'm not going to keep anything in my kitchen that can't stand alcohol. I'm not going to soak anything. If it's going to remove the coating that quickly, it shouldn't be anywhere near food (or me).”
Representatives for Walmart and Paris Hilton did not immediately respond to The Daily Dot's requests for comment via contact form and email, respectively. The Daily Dot reached out to Kathleen via TikTok comment.
