Zara Tindall and her husband Mike are members of the royal family, but one of the reasons they're so popular is because the couple seem like such down-to-earth people.
The couple, who have three children together – Mia, 10, Lena, six, and Lucas, three – are often photographed enjoying casual family outings like sporting events, and it's clear that this fun-loving couple prefers a laid-back lifestyle.
Zara, 43, and Mike, 45, are lucky enough to live in a lovely farmhouse called Aston Farm on the 700-acre Gatcombe Estate in Gloucestershire.
Zara's mother, Princess Anne, and her brother, Peter Phillips, also live close to the vast estate.
The couple hasn't shared much of the inside of their home, but from what we've seen, the decor is beautiful and impressive — plus, their styling choices are a perfect reflection of their personalities.
After the couple were pictured being interviewed in the family's stunning kitchen (aka party shed), HELLO! spoke to interiors experts about what the kitchen says about Mike and Zara's personalities.
Zara Tindall and Mike's kitchen reflects the couple's 'relaxed' vibe
This is not believed to be their main kitchen. But the couple clearly spend a lot of time in the space, designing it to their own personal tastes: Mike even filmed our interview in the kitchen (which you can see in the video below), and he also uses it to shoot content for his Instagram.
From what we can see, the duo has made the room super trendy, thanks to the exposed brick and dark green color scheme with bronze accents, but it also reflects their “relaxed” personalities.
this morningGeorgina Barnett, interiors expert at , told HELLO!: “The kitchen suggests a couple that isn't fancy, but that values the environment they find themselves in.”
The designer, who also works on Katie Piper's ITV morning show, added: “The fact that the house is so cosy also shows that they love being at home and that the kitchen is the heart of their home.”
Georgina adds: “The couple clearly instructed the designers to respect the cottage's age, but also wanted to understatedly incorporate current trends, which is a perfect reflection of their values.”
Lena Gieracintha, head of product and display at Barker & Stonehouse, agreed, stressing that it reflected the couple's family values.
“It has a stylish, relaxed atmosphere. With a combined cooking area and large dining table, it shows that Zara and Mike live a relaxed life and enjoy eating meals together as a family.”
Zara and Mike Tindall's clever design tricks for a gorgeous farmhouse kitchen
The couple's kitchen is an interior lover's dream, and like the aforementioned exposed brick, the décor shows just how stylish the couple's home is.
Lena says: “The style of the rooms is understated, but Zara and Mike clearly have a keen sense of style and an eye for detail. They chose a colour palette of dark shades and green tones that gives a sophisticated impression, and the brassware and veined marble worktops in the kitchen are gorgeous. This is softened by the rustic style of the exposed Cotswold stone.”
Georgina agreed: “It's a really tasteful colour choice that doesn't take too much away from the cottage's original beauty, and the clever lighting makes it cosy and striking without being too garish.”
“The combination of Cotswold stone and flooring brightens the whole room and adds warmth without contrasting too much with the cooler blues. The beauty of stone is that it gives the room a natural texture that blends with the polished finish of the modern units. It also means that the kitchen pays tribute to the building's history without countering the age of the home.”
Other elements of Zara and Mike's kitchen
In a video he previously shared on Instagram, Mike is seen promoting his CBD products while sitting in his stunning kitchen, and we're in awe of the décor.
The former professional rugby player was seated at a long breakfast bar with a stunning bronze-colored marble countertop.
Towards the end of the island you can see a sink with a stylish gold faucet, and above it are two bronze overhead lights that hang from the ceiling, perfectly complementing the colour scheme.
Double ovens are mounted high on the wall behind the microphone, out of reach of the kids and providing plenty of cooking space when entertaining guests.
Shelley Cochran, accessories buyer at Furniture Village, explained to HELLO!: “Their kitchens are classic, but with a twist. This farmhouse-style kitchen with Shaker-style cabinetry is timeless, and the dark colors give the space a warm and cozy feel.
“The kitchen has period features but doesn't feel opulent. Rather, the organic look and shape of these materials creates a relaxed atmosphere.”
She adds: “The bronze pendant lighting hanging above the kitchen island and the bold curved silhouette of the dining table base add a twist to this quintessential Cotswold kitchen, creating visual interest and drawing the eye.”
