A business owner with decades of experience in the hospitality industry is bringing his high-end cookware and bakeware business to Sioux Falls.
Cooks & Bakers Kitchen is set to open in Dooley Farm Village's new retail center.
Owner Joan Bogus recently moved to Sioux Falls from her native Florida. Her career includes roles at the Ritz-Carlton, Kennedy Center, Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Hard Rock Cafe, and Walt Disney's World in Washington, DC.
“It allowed me to see and experience different foods during my travels around the country and abroad. It all made me want to try this new business.” she said. “I love being in the kitchen, cooking, entertaining, and teaching friends new things, so this came from my background between home entertaining and running high-profile events.”
Cooks & Bakers Kitchen is leasing approximately 1,600 square feet in a retail center being developed by Kresten Capital Holdings and under construction in the middle of Dory Farm Village, which also includes Buff City Soap, Crumble Cookies, Nail salons plan to share it.
“We will have a large selection of high-end cookware and bakeware, wine and beverage accessories, and items for home entertaining and gifting,” Bogus said.
Additionally, the store will feature a high-end demonstration kitchen equipped with the latest appliances to “teach people the basics of cooking, baking and utilizing food products,” she continued. “There's an emphasis on home entertaining and people are doing it more. We're also partnering with local chefs to promote their restaurants and share personal tips on cooking and baking. I would like to invite you for this.”
Cooks & Bakers Kitchen is working with Dugan Sales & Service as an appliance provider to host classes on “how to make appliances work for you,” Bogus said, and hopes to expand other local partnerships as well. he added.
She said she chose the Doley Farm location after extensive research.
“I’m impressed with the growth on the east side,” she said. “And we don't have shopping like this in Sioux Falls. It's a niche market, but we think it will help us equip our clients' kitchens and give them tips on cooking, baking and entertaining.”
The plan is to open in November. Lease fills retail center. Crumble Cookies and Buff City are also scheduled to open by the end of the year.
“We are very pleased to welcome Cooks & Bakers Kitchen to Doley Farms. It is the perfect addition to the development,” said Lloyd & Co., the broker for the space and principal of Doley Farm Village. Raquel Brandt said.
“Sioux Falls shoppers who were expecting a national, high-end kitchen and bakeware store will love this local concept. That's what consumers are looking for. We think the synergies between her business and the other retailers in this center are great.”
